Required reading & supplies List

Supplies:

You will need a journal for this course. We recommend using a journal that is easily organized, so that you can keep track of your work.

We recognize that it may not be possible for you to acquire these tools and books right away.

The books go along with the course and are threaded all the way through. You will get specific chapters to read with your work, however if you don't have them in time for the assigned readings, you can always catch up later. The books by Henci Goer are suggested to you as reference resources for your class library.

You won't need the pelvis doll and placenta models until week 6 or later, where you will have a skills demonstration to work on. If you don't have a pelvis / baby / placenta by then you can choose a skills presentation that does not need those tools. We recommend that you get them also as an investment for your classes. So no rush.

We also recommend that you acquire a baby, pelvis and placenta model. We recommend an "articulated" pelvis or a cloth pelvis, one that has moveable joints. Etsy has home made models, or you can make your own. You can opt to get a full size model or a miniature model. Health Education Materials | Health Edco & Childbirth Graphics is one option to get educational materials.
