Final Assignment: Creating Your Resource List

🧰 Resource List Assignment: Building Your Local Harm Reduction + Perinatal Care Network

For this assignment, you’ll create your own Resource List based on your region.
This will become part of your professional toolkit; something you will build upon over time and use again and again in practice.

Your Task

Create a resource list for your area that includes supports across perinatal care, harm reduction, basic needs, safety, and community stability. You’ll submit your list as a document, PDF, or link; whatever format works for you.

Your list should include at least one resource in each of the following categories:

Harm Reduction & Health

  • Local syringe exchange/access program(s)
    • What items do they offer?
  • Narcan/Naloxone access points (pharmacies, syringe exchange, community orgs)
  • Mobile outreach teams

Perinatal, Medical, & Mental Health Care

  • Midwives or OB practices that are supportive of PWUD
    • Do they accept Medicaid?
  • Lactation consultants or breastfeeding support programs
  • Therapists trained in perinatal mental health and SUD
  • MOUD clinics or prescribers
  • Peer support programs or CHW programs

Safety, Legal, & Advocacy Supports

  • IPV advocacy programs or shelters
  • Warm lines or crisis support teams
  • Legal aid or family defense organizations
  • Housing navigators
  • County-level resource hubs

Basic Needs & Parenting Supports

  • Food pantries or meal programs
  • Housing shelters, rapid rehousing programs, warming centers and cooling centers
  • Transportation assistance (Medicaid ride programs, bus and taxi vouchers)
  • Clothing and baby supply closets
  • Diaper banks
  • Parenting home-visit programs

🌱 What to Include for Each Resource

For each organization, list:

  • Name of the program
  • What they offer
  • Who they serve (insurance required? open to all? walk-in?)
  • Hours / location / phone number
  • Any notes you think would help you make a warm referral

(Example: “This SSP is low-barrier, no ID required. Staff are kind and familiar with pregnancy. Closed on Wednesdays.”)
